Knoxville Opera receives $750,000 grant

(WBIR-Knoxivlle) The Knoxville Opera received its largest grant ever from a single donor.

The Aslan Foundation gave the $750,000 grant to support initiatives over the next five years. The money will help boost operating reserves to help safeguard the opera's sustainability.

Funds will also be used for the opera's productions and to create the Knoxville Opera Artist-in-Residents Programs. This program will provide experience and training for young artists.

The Knoxville Opera will open its 36th season at the Tennessee Theatre on October 25.
