Smokey celebrates his 60th birthday on UT campus

UT's beloved mascot celebrated a big birthday on Friday with a big party on campus!

This marks Smokey's 60th year representing the Vols.

To celebrate, the Student Alumni Association hosted a birthday party on camps, complete with hot dogs, cold drinks, and cake.

Students stopping by for a treat got a chance to give the bluetick coonhound a big pat on the back for his big accomplishment, and loyalty to the Vols.

"Smokey is here essentially you know to run around and say hi to all the folks here on campus as they go to class and to help him celebrate his birthday," said Gran Davis, SGA Student Services Director.

The first Smokey was chosen to be the school's mascot in 1953. This is Smokey 10's first season with the Vols.
