University of Tennessee Foundation President Johnnie Ray resigned Monday.
Ray, who is also the vice president for development and alumni affairs, tendered a letter of resignation to UT President Joe DiPietro.
In the letter, Ray said he is a new grandfather and had decided to strike a different balance between work and family.
Officials will conduct a national search to fill Ray's position, but an effective date for his resignation has not been decided.
Ray has been with the university since November 2011.
Lofton Stuart, currently vice president of the UT Foundation, will serve as interim vice president for development and president of the UT Foundation. Stuart also currently serves as executive director of the national UT Alumni Association.
