State funds York Institute for another year

State funding will continue for a Fentress County school.

State Senator Ken Yeager says about $1 million dollars of the state's 2014-15 budget will go to the York Institute, keeping it a "Tennessee Special School."

That means the school, which was established by General Alvin C York in the early 20th Century, will remain in state control.

There's been talk for years that the school could be relinquished to county control, but the county has said that would cause financial problems for the district.
