(WBIR-Farragut) A new West Knox County coffee shop wants to send a message when they pour a cup of brew.
"The atmosphere, you know? You come in and hang out, drink coffee. And the staff is always here, to talk and even pray with you if you need help or anything," said Eric Kinder, the lead barista at Lighthouse Coffee and Teas.
He said when owner Debra Sparks started the shop three months ago, she wanted to incorporate 'higher grounds,' sort of speak.
"(Debra) was wanting to start a ministry based coffee shop. So the name 'lighthouse' think of it as a light in a dark area," Kinder said.
Proverbs and biblical quotes can be found all over the small shop, located near Watt Road.
Even though they're starting out, there are some goals for this business.
"The funds that are coming in, we would like to do mission trips with the staff, would be awesome," said Kinder.
Lighthouse Coffee and Teas is located at 12744 Kingston Pike. Their hours are Monday-Saturday: 7:30 am to 3:00 pm.
