Rescue group uses local man's invention

Local inventor markets Velcro straps and has caught the attention of an emergency rescue group. November 3, 2016 Live at Five at 4

DANDRIDGE - He had used a version of the load-securing device he invented for about 20 years. He finally decided to take it to market. About a month ago Charles Red started selling a velcro strap he calls "Strap-It."

The Jefferson County Rescue Squad is already using a couple dozen on their various rescue vehicles. Robbie Hill says the quick release makes them better in an emergency than a bungee cord or ratchet strap.

The 24-inch versions cost $12.50 for a two pack.

Find STRAP-IT in these local stores: Blanc and West Lumber Company and Leeper Hardware in Jefferson City, Jefferson Farmers Coop, and ABC Supply in Talbott.

It is also available online.
