Franklin woman killed by SUV while helping injured dog

FRANKLIN, TENN. - A woman who had stopped to help an injured dog on the road was hit by a vehicle and killed Friday night in Franklin.

Robbin Holland. 60, was attempting to help a dog that had been hit by a vehicle in the 1200 block of Hillsboro Road about 8:45 p.m. when she was struck by an SUV, according to the Franklin Police Department.

Holland was taken to Williamson Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. The dog she had stopped to help also died, police said.

The driver of the SUV is a 71-year-old Thompson Station woman who has not been identified.

No charges have been filed, but the FPD Critical Incident Response Team is investigating.
