Free prostate cancer screenings are being offered in 10 East Tennessee counties Thursday and Friday as part of the University of Tennessee versus Florida blood drive at MEDIC Regional Blood Center.
The screenings are part of an annual Eddie Check event that adds free PSA screenings for prostate cancer to blood drives.
In 2016, about 181,000 new cases of prostate cancer will be diagnosed and 26,000 men will died from it, according to the American Cancer Society.
Eddie Check will be at eight locations Thursday and eight locations Friday in 10 East Tennessee counties, including Knox, Cumberland, Blount, Anderson, Cocke, McMinn, Roane, Scott, Hamblen and Loudon. Blood samples for PSA screening will be taken at each location, even if you don't donate blood.
MEDIC is also providing free cholesterol screenings and refreshments, as well as Tennessee versus Florida "Tail" Gate t-shirts for all blood donors at all sites.
The free screenings are a partnership between Eddie Check, MEDIC and Provision.
More information and a complete event schedule is available on the Eddie Check website.
