The winter season is just around the corner and now is the time to get your car ready for the cold weather.

Tools and equipment to have to keep your car running safely:

Antifreeze: Goes into the radiator in place of water during the winter month to prevent the liquid from freezing.

De-icer: Comes in a squirt bottle and is sprayed on the windshield prior to or in the event of ice forming on the glass.

Ice Scraper: All ice must be removed from the windshield before operating the vehicle.

When traveling during the winter season, the following items are recommended to have in your vehicle in the event of an emergency or break down:

Jumper Cables: To be used to in the event that your vehicle needs to be jump-started.

Extra Blankets/Cold Weather Apparel: If you become stranded, having these extra items will allow you to stay warm while you await assistance.

Extra Water/Snacks: For nourishment if you are stranded for an extended period of time.

Cat Litter: This can be used to gain traction should your vehicle become stuck in ice or snow.

Flashlight: Can be used in any emergency situation.

Phone Charger (for the car): When traveling during the winter season, always keep your phone fully charged!

**Be sure to fill up your gas tank and maintain at least half a tank throughout your trip**
