Greeneville man killed after crashing into concrete pillar

A Greeneville man was killed in a single-car crash on Saturday.

According to the crash report from the Greeneville Police Department, Michael A. Long, 41, was driving on Snapps Ferry Road when his 2005 Acura ran off the road just before 5 p.m.

The car crashed into the concrete support of the Highway 11E bridge head-on. Investigators said ihere was no sign that Long had hit the brakes to try to stop the crash.

Long was unresponsive when rescue crews arrived and extricated him from the vehicle. The report says it didn't appear that Long was wearing a seatbelt.

Long was pronounced dead on the scene.
