GSMA extending Sugarlands hours through Nov. 2

A non-profit partner of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is still counting up the costs of this month's government shutdown.

The Great Smoky Mountains Association says it lost more than $550,000 due to the shutdown.

In order to recover some of the lost funds, the association is extending its hours at the Sugarlands Visitor Center through November 2.

The GSMA will also host a special event at Clingman's Dome on December 1 before closing it for the year.
