A Cosby man is facing several charges after he shot at several hunting dogs that chased a bear onto his property.
According to court documents, Creighton Lute, 25, is charged with vandalism, reckless endangerment, and aggravated cruelty to animals after the incident on October 4.
Investigators say Lute fired a short barrel shotgun at the dogs, injuring ten of them, some seriously. All of the dogs had to get medical treatment.
The hunters told authorities that the dogs followed the bear on to Lute's property and he fired at the dogs and then, when they tried to retrieve the dogs, he fired towards them. Lute admitted he fired the weapon, but said it was only a warning shot to scare the hunters off the property. He claimed he was not trying to hit the dogs.
