(WBIR - Knoxville) Nine members of the North Carolina church group involved in Wednesday's accident remain in UT Medical Center Saturday. However, authorities said their conditions continued to improve.
One of the victims, Norma Hellard, has been upgraded from serious to stable condition. Three other victims remain in stable condtion, while two victims are in critical condition and three others are in serious condition.
Six members of the church died in the accident Wednesday on Interstate 40 in Jefferson County. Two others died, including a truck driver from New Orleans, Mose Farmer, 66, and Powell High School graduate, Trent Roberts, 24.
The church group was returning home after a trip to Gatlinburg when a wheel on their bus malfunctioned and veered across a grass median, hitting an SUV and semi truck.
