Sheriff: Thief in custody after targeting a family at a funeral

Update Saturday 5 p.m.:
A woman who authorities said stole from a family that was attending the funeral of their father is now in custody, according to the Cocke County Sheriff.

Sheriff Armando Fontes told WBIR 10News on Saturday that the suspect, Marsha Bible, was arrested in Hamblen County. He said Fontes moved through Hamblen, Jeff, Union and Cocke County.

He said Bible's last known address lists her as a Cocke County resident.

The Hamblen County Jail said Bible was arrested Friday evening and is being held on three counts forgery, three counts of theft under $500, five counts of fraudulent use of a credit card, and burglary of an automobile. Her bond is set at $24,500.

Sheriff Fontes said the woman will be returned to Cocke County where she will face multiple charges including burglary, criminal impersonation and theft.

Sheriff Armando Fontes says the woman stole two purses from a vehicle. She was then caught on surveillance video at three different businesses using stolen credit cards she found in those purses.

She is believed to be driving a white Chevy pickup truck.
