The 16-year-old who is charged with attempted first degree murder after a stabbing at South Greene High School this week appeared in juvenile court Friday morning.
Investigators said the teen stabbed a 15-year-old in the back in the school cafeteria on Tuesday. WCYB-TV said the two were fighting over a girl.
The victim is expected to make a full recovery.
In court, the judge ordered the suspect to remain in custody, and issued a gag order. The teen is being held at the Johnson City Juvenile Detention Center. His next court date is set for November 7. There is still no decision on whether or not he will be tried as an adult.
