VOTE NOW: Local teacher finalist in TODAY show contest

(WBIR-Dandridge) Today is your last chance to vote for a local teacher nominated for the TODAY show's "Teacher of the Year."

Billie Yardley, who teaches drama at Jefferson County High School in Dandridge, is one of three finalists competing for the grand prize of $10,000 in school supplies.

The prize money would definitely go a long way for Mrs. Yardley. When the roof collapsed over her classroom due to heavy rains in June, she lost more than 30 years of costumes, props and scripts. Now her entire classroom is reduced to a rolling cart.

But, the show must go on - and Mrs. Yarley is making sure that happens. For example, JCHS's "Night of the Patriots," featuring a cast of more than 200 students, is continuing as planned on Thursday, Nov. 7.

The TODAY show narrowed to just three finalists, and now you have the last say. You can help Mrs. Yardley with her mission to rebuild with just a couple clicks.

Voting closes today (Monday, Nov. 4) at 11:59 pm. Kathie Lee and Hoda will announce the winner during the TODAY Show on Wednesday, Nov. 13.
