KCSO investigating murder-suicide involving ex-husband and wife

The Knox County Sheriff's Office is investigating a murder-suicide where officials say a woman shot her ex-husband and then herself.

KCSO officers responded to the 6600 block of Millertown Pike around 6 p.m. Friday after the Sevier County Sheriff's Office received a call that 58-year-old Teena Rudd, of Knoxville, had driven her ex-husband's truck to a family member's home in Sevier County and apparently attempted suicide with a firearm.

Rudd was taken to UT Medical Center and pronounced dead.

According to KCSO, family members went to the Millertown Pike address to check on the welfare of Rudd's ex-husband, 62-year-old Michael Self, of Sevier County.

Family members found Self lying in the yard with an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The Knox and Sevier county sheriff's offices are investigating the incident.
