KNOXVILLE - A vacant home near Austin East High School was destroyed by fire Wednesday night.
The Knoxville Fire Department said the fire sparked up shortly after 11:30 p.m.
Crews arrived to find flames pouring out of the back of the residence at 2814 E. 5th Ave. Flames could be seen rising above the roof. Knoxville police closed the entire street while crews put the fire out. The street reopened overnight.
Crews searched the home for possible victims, and none were found.

According to KFD, witnesses told officials there was known homeless activity around the vacant home.
KFD said they are investigating the incident as a set fire.
