(WBIR) A search effort is underway in Northern Alabama to find a missing Knoxville man, according to a number of local reports.

WAFF reports 71-year-old Mack Arthur Orick was reported missing at the Walls of Jericho state park in Jackson County, AL, Wednesday evening. The family told the station that Orick is retired from the Oak Ridge K-25 plant.

Authorities said Orick left Knoxville heading toward Olive Branch, Mississippi, when he decided to stop at the park sometime Wednesday evening.

Orick's family called police around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday after they didn't hear from him.

WAFF reports rescuers located Orick's vehicle around 10 p.m. Wednesday.

Crews began searching trails at the Walls of Jericho overnight with an ATV and started searching by foot early Thursday morning.

WHNT is reporting that rain has prevented crews from using tracking dogs in the search. Local authorities are planning to send a mounted patrol to help find the missing Knoxville man. Crews are also trying to determine Orick's location by tracking his cell phone.
