Knoxville Police Department wins new Tahoe

(WBIR-Knoxville) Thanks to a lucky draw, the Knoxville Police Department has a brand new 2013 Chevy Tahoe.

During the Governor's Highway Safety Projects' Law Enforcement Challenge last week, Lieutenant Ronald Green picked the winning key during a contest. The Tahoe is equipped with a radar, camera and computer system, as well as a light package.

The car was presented to the Knoxville Police Department on Monday, and the chief hopes it will improve safety especially on the highways.

"We're excited about having the vehicle. We are going to put it to use on our interstates, on our highways and on our streets in Knoxville to do traffic enforcement. That's what we won it for and that's what we will put it to use for to continue our efforts and to enhance our efforts already in place," said Chief David Rausch.

The Law Enforcement Challenge program allows agencies to learn from one another and establish goals in traffic safety enforcement and education.
