KPD awards early 2014 Officers of the Month

Several East Tennessee public servants received special recognition Tuesday for their part in investigating some of this year's biggest crimes.

Mayor Rogero and Police Chief David Rausch named Officer Jeff Allgood and Officer Chris Starr the February Officers of the Month. Chief Rausch says their information helped identify suspects in the recent McClung Warehouse fire.

Officer Richard Wallace was named the January Officer of the Month. He helped locate a suspect who kidnapped a father and son-- forcing them at gunpoint to withdraw money from an ATM.

Rausch says the majority of his officers go above and beyond expections.

"They don't recognize the time clock as being a restricting thing to them. It's about protecting our community and doing the right thing all of the time," he said.

Rausch also named Officer Sergio Marrero the March Officer of the Month. He volunteered to respond to a robbery call and ended up solving the case, which included three hours of work past the end of his shift.

KPD also recognized Becky Kreisa as its February Employee of the Month. Rausch says she worked tirelessly on a project to create a department legacy album.
