A Knoxville police officer was hospitalized Friday afternoon after a crash involving a teenage driver.
It happened just before 4 p.m. at the intersection of Ball Road and Dyestone Gap.
Officers say a 16-year-old attempted to turn left at Ball Road and crashed into the officer nearly head-on.
The officer, who has not yet been identified, was taken to UT Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. The teen was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
No citations were issued.
