Kroger: Local customers donate $51K for breast cancer

(WBIR-Knoxville) Kroger customers in Knoxville donated over $51,000 during a month-long fundraising campaign for breast cancer.

For the past month, customers could purchase pink paper ribbons for $1 at Kroger stores.

Also, the grocery store chain organized a two-week company-wide promotion that featured hundreds of popular products at special sale prices. "Giving Hope a Hand" raised $3 million nationwide for breast cancer patients and research. East Tennesseans contributed $25,000 to that total.

By the end of 2013, Kroger will have donated more than $24 million to support breast cancer research, education, and services since 2006.
