Work to improve KUB's wastewater treatment system is prompting closure of Gov. Ned McWherter /Riverside Landing Park east of downtown.
The 2-acre waterside park off Riverside Drive under the South Knoxville Bridge is set to close Sept. 26 and remain closed through late October, according to KUB. A contractor is working on the wastewater collection system in the area.
The work affects parking, the boat ramp, fishing pier, and picnic and playground areas.
The nearby James White Greenway, however, will remain open. The greenway stretches along Fort Loudoun Lake and stubs at the park.
The dock is owned by the Knoxville Rowing Association, a private non-profit. It's a popular place for canoeists and kayakers to put in.
