Labor of Love

In April of 2011, the Home Builders Association of Greater Knoxville revealed the first of two Labor of Love home renovations to Love Kitchen co-founder Helen Ashe. Her sister Ellen's home would be revealed two months later. That same month, East Tennessee was hit by two damaging storms.

The storms did considerable damage to the Childhelp Tennessee building in Knoxville. Childhelp is a Children's Advocacy Center that helps with child abuse cases in the Knox County district. The center provides a place where Knox County's physically and sexually abused children can escape the red tape of the justice system and also receive treatment.

Childhelp Tennessee director, Hugh Nystrom, said Childhelp had to patch the roof following the 2011 storms. However, that was a quick and temporary fix.

Members of the Home Builders Association of Greater Knoxville will begin work the week of December 3 to strip the buildings current roof and replace it as well as to repair brick facade on the outside of the building, fix the structure of the building and paint trim and renovate bathrooms inside the building.
