Man dead after being hit by train in Blount County

UPDATE:

(WBIR-Blount County) The Blount County Sherffi's Office released the name of the Louisville man who was hit and killed by a train early Saturday morning.

Officials said Benjamin Allen Drain, 32, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Around 2 a.m., CSX Rail notified dispatch one of their trains hit Drain near the railroad crossing on Pearly Smith Road in Louisville.

This is the second time a pedestrian has been hit and killed by a train in Blount County this year, according to BCSO.

ORIGINAL STORY:

(WBIR-Blount County) A man is dead after being hit by a train in Blount County early this morning.

Blount County officials say the accident happened near Pearly Smith Road.

Dispatchers received the train versus pedestrian call around 2 a.m.

Officials have identified the body, but are waiting to notify the next of kin to release any personal information.
