Bear cubs (and handlers) win new truck

(WBIR - Townsend) Votes from East Tennessee and across the country helped the bear cubs (and their handlers) from Appalachian Bear Rescue win a new Toyota Tundra.

The one-day contest was part of Toyota's 100 Cars for Good campaign.

According to the contest's facebook page, Appalachian Bear Rescue was one of two charities to win Wednesday, pending final verification and execution of prize acceptance forms.

Appalachian Bear Rescue said it needed the new Tundra to make it easier for volunteers to take the bear cubs to the vet. The 1998 vehicle they use now is too small to transport the bears and also suffered flood damage over the years. Currently, the organization has to borrow more reliable vehicles.
