Maryville woman is 6th traffic fatality in county in 6 weeks

The Blount County Sheriff's Office is investigating its sixth traffic fatality in six weeks.

Sherff James Lee Berrong said Mary Angel Cooper, 21, of Maryville, was killed in a single-vehicle accident early Monday morning.

Cooper was driving a Jeep Cherokee east on Rocky Branch Road near Fred Jennings Road at around 12:30 am when she lost control going around a curve. The jeep ran off the road, rolled onto its top and hit a tree on the driver's side. She was not wearing a seatbelt.

Cooper was transported to Blount Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
