A man wanted in Michigan for several violent crimes was arrested in Blount County on Thursday.
Ismail Shaka Hall, 22, of Southfield, Michigan, was wanted on multiple warrants, including charges for selling drugs inside a school zone and domestic violence. He is also wanted in connection with a non-fatal shooting in Southfield, Michigan in June.
On Wednesday, the Oakland County Sheriff's Office in Michigan notified Alcoa Police that Hall and another person could be staying at a motel on Alcoa Highway.
The next day, officers from several agencies, including the Blount County Sheriff's Office SWAT team went to the motel to arrest Hall. They attempted to take him into custody as he was leaving his room, but Hall took off running. A K-9 caught up with him down the street and he was taken into custody.
Hall is currently in the Blount County Detention Center, awaiting extradition to Michigan.
"I'm very proud of my deputies who were involved in apprehending this criminal," Sheriff Berrong said. "When we received notification from authorities in Michigan that Hall could be in our county, our men and women sprang into action to get this potentially violent person off our streets."
