Parents charged after toddler showed up at neighbor's house

A Blount County couple is charged with child abuse and neglect after a neighbor found their two-year-old son on his back porch.

According to a report from the Blount County Sheriff's Office, the deputies were called to a home on Watson Drive in Maryville last Friday morning.

The man found the little boy on his porch wearing only a very dirty diaper and a red t-shirt. The officer noted the child was "filthy" and had an old, untreated injury on his foot.

The deputy went to the child's home and found his parents, Tracy Nicole McMahan, 25, and Anthony Lee Hardwick, 26, asleep in the unlocked house. Neither of them knew where the boy was.

The toddler was taken to Children's Hospital to be checked out. McMahan and Hardwick were taken into custody, and the other children in the home were taken into DCS custody.
