A U.S. postal carrier was injured when police say a drunk driver ran a stop sign and slammed into her car.
According to Maryville Police, Nancy Dyer, 63, of Maryville was driving on Howard Jones Road at 10:43 Thursday morning when she the accident happened. After running the stop sign, Dyer's car hit the postal carrier's car driven by Patricia Shaw of Maryville.
Shaw's car spun around, and flipped down an embankment, landing on its top. Shaw was taken to Blount Memorial Hospital by ambulance, where hospital officials said she was treated and released.
Dyer was charged with DUI, having an open container, and failure to stop.
