TBI: Three arrests made in July 4th murder

(WBIR) The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation arrested three suspects in a McMinn County murder on the Fourth of July.

McMinn County deputies found the body of Tyler W.T. Womack, 20, at the home of his friend in Athens. Officials said the house had also been burglarized.

TBI said they arrested Thursday morning Thomas Odum, 48, Martha A. Thompson, 42, and Amanda L. Britnell, 34. All three suspects admitted they were involved in the crime, according to a TBI release.

They're all being held in the McMinn County Jail.

Womack's father is still coming to terms with the tragedy.

"Everybody just loved him," said Mike Womack Sr., Tyler's father. "It was a shame somebody stuck his life that quick; he was just starting to enjoy life and enjoying having fun. And somebody had to take it away from him that quick."

Womack's family is collecting donations for his headstone and has already collected more than $3,000. If you would like to donate, you can call (423) 453-9406.
