Silent auction raises money to benefit Honor Air Knoxville

A silent fundraiser Thursday is helping World War II and Korean War veterans head to our nation's capitol to see the monuments dedicated to their service.

The Rotaract Club at Pellissippi State Community College sponsored a silent auction to benefit Honor Air Knoxville. The group flies veterans to Washington, DC to see the World War II and Korean War memorials.

Organizers hoped to raise enough money to pay for three veterans for the next Honor Air trip, and one student gets to be the trip.

"The students are so excited about being able to honor our veterans, to be able to take them up to Washington DC and show them the memorials that were built in their honor," said Denise Reed, Pellissippi State professor.

The next trip is scheduled for April.
