Motorcyclist hurt after hitting a bear

BLOUNT COUNTY, TENN. - A motorcycle rider was hurt after they collided with a bear Tuesday morning. 

The Blount County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call around 10:25 a.m. reporting the incident along the Foothills Parkway near the Look Rock Tower. 

According to a spokesperson with the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the motorcyclists suffered non-life threatening injuries after hitting a bear that was crossing the road. 

The bear then ran into the woods but park rangers could not locate it. 

The injured motorcyclists was taken to Blount Memorial Hospital.
