A motorist suffered injuries Monday afternoon in a head-on collision with a Knox County corrections officer at a Northeast Knox County intersection, according to authorities.
The motorist, whose name was not released Monday afternoon, was taken to an area hospital for treatment of injuries that are not considered to be life-threatening. The corrections officer, also unnamed, was not hurt, according to Knox County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Martha Dooley.
Both vehicles were damaged in the crash.
The crash happened at 12:37 p.m. on Washington Pike at Greenway Drive near the Target store.
The motorist's air bag deployed.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision is ongoing, according to Dooley.
