Nashville child dies after being electrocuted

UPDATE: 6:20 a.m.

Police have identified the 9-year-old boy who died after being electrocuted by a downed power line Thursday.

The boy, Christopher Ellison was in the J.C. Napier Homes area with a friend when came across the wire, according to a police statement. Police have not determined exactly how he contacted the wire, which was knocked down by a large tree limb during high winds.

Christopher was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center at about 9:30 p.m. He was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.

A 9-year-old boy died at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt after being shocked by a downed power line near J.C. Napier Homes.

Police were sent to the 500 block of Charles E. Davis Boulevard around 9:30 p.m. Thursday after the incident was reported, an emergency dispatcher confirmed.

Police said they started an accidental death investigation into the boy's death. His identity was not released at press time.
