New Knox trustee says revenue is up, with fewer workers

It's been almost two months since Craig Leuthold was sworn is as the Knox County Trustee, and already his office is reporting good numbers.

Since former trustee John Duncan, III pleaded guilty to official misconduct,

the trustee's office has collected more money, with fewer employees.

Leuthold says the county's tax revenue is up over 20% for August of 2013, compared to August of 2012.

"We're working hard, we're making those calls to people that haven't paid their taxes. And my feelings is I pay my taxes, 96% of the people of Knox County pay their taxes on time. And we're going out there and making sure everybody pays their taxes like everyone else," said Leuthold.

Leuthold says with less employees the county has also saved over $50-thousand dollars in salaries and benefits.
