Newborns in Need providing necessities to new mothers

(WBIR, Knoxville) - From diapers, to baby wipes, and even clothes, one organization is making sure babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at UT Medical Center have everything they need.

Newborns in Need is a national organization that has a local chapter in East Tennessee.

They provide necessity kits complete with diapers, wipes, blankets, burp clothes, onesies, sleepers, socks, everything a mother needs to get started after having a child.

The president of the East Tennessee chapter says there are babies in need and the group is glad they can be there to help.

"They are very excited and thankful. There is a lot of people that come and have their babies and may not have anything. So this is a way to get started and to give the babies a good start, and so they have something warm and usually they are very excited," said Lori Wade.
