Burned church hosts first service since fire

Wednesday, a North Knoxville church held its first service, just a few days after the sanctuary caught fire.

Last Friday, fire damaged the Iglesia Cristiana Restauracion church near Tazewell Pike in North Knoxville. It happened just one day after the owners signed the lease.

Wednesday the church held its first service outside since much of the inside remains charred.

Pastor Jessica Cueto says that everything happens for a reason...

"We have to show the world that you know what, we're always going to have circumstances, we're going to have things that are gonna go wrong; not everything is going to be perfect. But we have to worship the Lord at all times, even when you're backed down, even more," she said.

The church did not have renter's insurance; they were scheduled to meet with an insurance company the morning of the fire.

If you'd like to help them out, you can donate money through First Tennessee Bank for call the church at (865) 230-7254.
