Police id Caryville woman killed in Clinton Hwy crash

Update: (WBIR-Knoxville) Knoxville Police have identified a Caryville woman who was killed in an early morning crash on Clinton Highway Saturday morning.

According to a press release, 56-year-old Kathy Smith of Caryville was driving a Toyota 4-Runner around 3:50 a.m. Police say her SUV did not stop at a red light. A Nissan Titan Truck driving south.

Smith's SUV spun and rolled over onto the passenger side.

Smith was partially ejected. Police say she was not wearing her seatbelt.

The driver of the Nissan, 22-year-old Kody Wiesner of Jefferson City, was taken to UT Medical Center to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

(WBIR-Knoxville) One person was killed and another injured after an early morning crash on Clinton Highway.

According to the Knoxville Police Department, officers responded to the accident on Clinton Highway and Callahan Drive around 3:50 Saturday morning.

Police said a Toyota SUV and Nissan truck collided in the intersection.

Officers said one of the drivers was found dead at the scene, and the other was taken to UT Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The names of the drivers are not being released until family members are notified.

KPD said officers are still investigating the crash.
