Stabbing victim found walking down the street

(WBIR) Witnesses told Knoxville police they found a stabbing victim walking down the street in northwest Knoxville late Monday night.

As officers settled the disturbance on the 1300 block of W. Oldham, they saw witnesses trying to take Carlos Shields, 35, to the hospital at about 10:30 p.m. Officers said Shields was stabbed at least once.

Witnesses told police they saw Shields walking down the road and tried to take him to the hospital until they were stopped by officers.

An ambulance took Shields to the University of Tennessee Medical Center. Officials said they expect he will recover.

The Knoxville Police Department said it doesn't know where the stabbing happened or who is responsible. The stabbing was unrelated to the disturbance, according to police.
