Papa John's raises almost $14K for girl with brain cancer

(WBIR, Knoxville) - A Knox County Papa John's franchise held a fundraiser Tuesday to help a five-year-old girl with an aggressive form of brain cancer. Fifty percent of all proceeds at the Papa John's in Halls and on Clinton Highway went to help a girl named Kylie.

Since she was two years old, Kylie Overton has been in and out of the hospital dealing with a rare form of brain cancer.

The general manager at the Papa John's in Halls says despite her sickness, she always seems to have a smile on her face.

"She's had misdiagnoses, bumps in the road. Her demeanor, she is really strong. We all sport these 'Kylie Strong' bracelets. I don't know what it is, it's just God's put it on our heart to help this little girl," said General Manager J.P. Cruze.

Thursday, the pizza parlor presented a check for almost $14,000. Kylie and her family were unable to attend the ceremony because she's back in the hospital.
