Over the next few days, many people across East Tennessee will take time to thank our nation's warriors.
Friday night, the Elmcroft senior living community in Halls started the Veterans Day weekend a little early.
They honored nine veterans who live there with a certificate, hat, and a pin. They also honored the widow of a World War II veteran.
Organizers thanked them for their service and called on East Tennesseans to pause and honor a veteran this weekend.
"If it weren't for our veterans, we wouldn't have the freedoms that we have today. It's because of their sacrifices. We have the freedom of speech and the freedom of our everyday life," said Suzy Dauber.
Elmcroft workers say Boy Scouts will deliver flags to the veterans on Monday.
