Several hundred KUB customers still without power

(WBIR) As of Wednesday evening, KUB says about 700 customers are still in the dark. The utility anticipates most customers will have power restored by midnight, but some work may continue into Thursday morning.

Severe storms blew through the area Tuesday, leaving tens of thousands without power.

KUB said remaining outages are scattered throughout its service area. The jobs are mostly service lines and transformers that KUB says will restore power to only a small number of customers at a time.

Until the power is restored, crews will continue to work non-stop in rotating shifts, according to a media release. On Wednesday, KUB expects to have a 60-plus crew out in the field working to fix the outages.

At the height of the storm, KUB reported about 33,000 customers were without power. As of 1 p.m. the next day, crews managed to drop that number of outages to about 1,200 customers. To see the latest outage numbers and for more information click here.

The utility company said there are downed lines in several areas, and people need to avoid any fallen trees or limbs on the ground because they could be touching those lines. To report any outages, customers can call KUB at 865-524-2911 or 1-800-250-8068.

Thousands of customers are also still without power in areas in Anderson and Campbell counties. As of 1 p.m. Wednesday, Clinton Utilities Board said about 3,588 customers are without power.
