The Sevierville Police Department issued its condolences for a North Carolina K-9 police officer killed from a gunshot wound in the line of duty.
Tim Brackeen of the Shelby Police Department died Monday morning from his injuries after he was shot early on Saturday while serving outstanding warrants.
Brackeen attended the Sevierville Police Department’s weeklong K-9 seminar, according to a Facebook post from the Sevierville Police Department.
Several law enforcement and emergency agencies honored Brackeen on Tuesday as authorities escorted his body from the medical examiner's office in Charlotte to a funeral home in Shelby.
Brackeen leaves behind a wife and daughter.
