(WBIR) Officials at Great Smoky Mountains National Park announced that Sevier County Electric System has completed utility work along the northbound Spur ahead of schedule. All equipment and lane closures have been removed.
The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is temporarily closing the right lane of northbound side of the Spur for utility work starting Monday.
The effected area stretches about a mile from the Gatlinburg City boundary to Legion Bridge. Work is expected to last through Thursday, Feb. 6.
The Sevier County Electric System is doing work on some underground power lines along the shoulder of the road. The work will require weekday closures Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The lane closure is necessary because of the shoulder throughout the area is very narrow.
The utility company got permission for the work from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
