Knox firefighters revive family's cat after overnight fire

(WBIR) A South Knoxville family plans to stay with relatives after an overnight electrical fire damaged their South Knoxville home.

Knoxville Fire Department said crews responded to the 500 block of Woodlawn Pike around 2 a.m. Thursday for a report of a house on fire.

When crews arrived on scene, they found the family had made it out safely after calling 911. Firefighters quickly put out the flames in the home's basement.

Firefighters also found and resuscitated one of the family's two cats.

Investigators determined the cause to be an electrical fire that started in the area between the downstairs drop ceiling and the upstairs sub flooring.

No injuries have been reported.
