Middle schoolers compete for Volleyball gold

(WBIR - Louisville) Twenty volleyball teams from all over East Tennessee competed over the weekend in what event organizers said was a first of its kind tournament.

K2 Volleyball in Louisville hosted the two-day KnoxVolley Middle School Tournament, which gave more than 200 local kids a chance to bring home a gold medal.

Director of K2 Volleyball, Christine Hames, said she believes it was likely the biggest middle school tournament in the area. Hames also said it was a big opportunity for the kids because middle school volleyball isn't a sanctioned sport in parts of East Tennessee.

She also said with multiple brackets, it allowed teams with similar abilities to play against each other.
