Victim identified in fatal South Knoxville crash

(WBIR - South Knoxville) Leslie Whaley, 33, of Sevierville has been identified as the victim of Sunday's fatal south Knoxville crash, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

A THP report stated Whaley was heading east on Wynn Avenue when she failed to yield and drove into the path of another vehicle at the intersection with Cottrell street.

After the collision, the THP report said both vehicles slid along Cottrell Street until they ran off the road into a ditch and Whaley's car struck a tree.

THP said Whaley was not wearing a seatbelt. She was pronounced dead at UT Medical Center.

Two people in the other vehicle were injured and also taken to the hospital.

(WBIR - South Knoxville) One person died Sunday afternoon after being hurt in a two vehicle crash in South Knoxville.

A release from the Knoxville Police Department said officers responded to a wreck at the intersection of Wynn Avenue and Cottrell Street around 3:50 p.m Sunday.

Three people were injured in the crash and were taken to UT Medical Center.

KPD said one person hurt in the crash died at the hospital.

The release stated the crash investigation is still underway.
