
The 2009 Secret City Festival takes place October 8-11 at the Oak Ridge Playhouse in Jackson Square. Here are some of the highlights.
October 8, 6pm: Festival begins with Free Family Night. Admission is free and there are screenings of the short documentary film The Reed Sisters: An American Journey. The documentary is about singing sisters who had a cable access t.v. show in Anderson County during the 1970's.
October 9: Screenings begin at Noon. At 7pm, there's a special screening of the new film That Evening Sun, starring Hal Holbrook. It was filmed in East Tennessee in 2008.
October 10: Saturday morning workshops will be hosted by Natalie Canerday (October Sky, Sling Blade) and David Dwyer (We are Marshall). At 5pm Sundance Film Festival award-winner Paul Harrill will screen some of his films and discuss them with the audience.
There will also be a special event on Saturday evening with two Oak Ridge natives who now live in Los Angeles. The event is called: "A Homecoming Conversation with Mitch Rouse and Elaine Henrix"
October 11: The festival wraps up with more screenings including the short films created for The Secret City Film Festival 7-Day Shootout. The festival wraps up with an awards presentation and closing night party.
